Well, despite the lowly turn-out for our first Club Champs Round of 2008,
the racing was fast and furious- especially in the 2wd.
Well done to Reigning Club & 4wd Champ John, for kicking off this year's campaign with an almost flawless score, despite being unhappy with his new B44, and a hearty well done (and let's see more of him!) to George for winning both the 2wd Round and the Club 2wd "A" Final.
Matt B started off rather sluggishly, but by his fourth run was back to his best, and Juddy showed good at the finish too.
Nice to see Yik racing again. He had a bit of a topsy-turvy meeting but showed his class in one race to secure a good win- the first of many no doubt!
Steve drove well all day in 4wd, but was a tad unlucky at the finish; and well done to Alex for a superb heat win, and to Andy for his third place in the "A". Lee looked good, if a little shaky at times, and didn't do too bad at the end of the day. Kaine was unlucky with 2 retirements and a brace of non-starts, and I was quite impressed with young Daniel's debut.
Kev had a relatively quiet day: and I hope all's well with Chris, as he had to leave early as his wife was unwell.

P.S. - George, I've cut my battery strip out of the lead you gave me-
do you want the remainder back? Very Happy

Yeah it was a good meeting, lots of good driving in 2wd, had my bad luck ( some of it self made).

But if i can drive as fast as i did in the final all the time, i think i'll be alright.

Nice to see new faces down, and lets hope to see some of the old ones soon!

That will be the effects of the Vodka from the night before!  Confused

A really enjoyable meeting, with lots of close racing all day long.  The 2WD heats were some of the closest racing I've seen at Lawford, with the lead changing almost every lap in every race!

Really good meeting, first one this year that I've got through with no problems at all, apart from when I couldn't find the nut driver to take the wheels off Very Happy

I think the new, or is it the old system of splitting 2wd from 4wd worked well, there was some good racing to watch in the 2wds without them getting 4wds spoiling thier fun. Think 5 drivers in 2wd had at least one win, so it was really open, which should make the year fun to watch for us 4wd drivers Wink

Great to see my old mate Yik come back to racing, and to get a win after 8 years or so off was pretty good I think.

Well done to Alex on his win, don't know what he'd taken before the race, but I'm buggered if I could catch him!

Roll on next week, can only get even better.

Have to admit, despite the lack of numbers, that I enjoyed myself.
My battles with Lee will probably go down in history, but we
came out even (two apiece I think)
The new format works well so all we need now are more drivers....

SO PULL YOUR FINGER OUT!!!!!!!

Thanks for an absolutely cracking days racing (once the air miles were reduced Laughing ). I still can't believe how close the 2wd drives were and how we generally managed to avoid major contact between us. It was really nice to really race against each other without worrying about being punted up the jacksie on the exit of a corner by a 4wd.
I will certainly endevour to get down when i have a free sunday that isn't taken up by Coastal, the STCC or Full scale stuff.
It would be great to race against you guys on the slopes when your not racing at lawford to.
Jim, don't worry about the lead. Ive started using brass weights because the scrap values much better Laughing .

Hope to come south of the river soon

George
