The AGM is coming up very soon. (date will be confirmed by the end of this week - It will be a Tuesday or Thursday evening in November, probably in a fornights time)

It would be a great start to next years calendar for everyone, who can, to attend.  If you can't, but have any concerns, suggestions etc you would like to raise, or things you would like to see brought up by proxy, let me know and I will bring them up on your behalf.  (Although, by your absence it will be a vote less to get your idea implemented.)

If you are going to attend the AGM, please pop your name below.
If you have any suggestions and want them debated, pop them down too.  If not, fire some PM's or bring it up on the night.   The more refined an idea and less that's debated on the night the better. It can drag on otherwise. Wink

I personally would like to see the regional held at the Manningtree car show, on the following proviso's

1 - Timing system was available to borrow.
2 - Area surrounding the rostrum was sectioned off.
3 - Rostrum moved giving more/ safer spectator room
4 - Track was laid out with piping on a roller (saw it at Broxtowe, the simplicity of it was amazing!)  In fact, we could spray the track markings, and drop the entire pipe down on the morning of the event with ease. Instead of nails, use metal hoops (look like croquet hoops). Transporting too and from the event would be easier as well.
6 - Independant rostrum referees.
7 - Drive through penalty area with stop and go.
8 - Due to the spectator aspect, a reduction on time between rounds.  The finals would need to commence by 1pm latest.  Duration between heats to be determined by this and entry levels.
9 - 2WD to be run on the same day or have a 2WD open with trophies for 2WD open and 4WD regional. (Or 4WD open and 2WD regional)
10 - It would be a good idea to have pics of the cars, drivers names and standings.  Spectators will know the make, model of the car, the persons sponsors (i.e where to buy)  and also when the timing system is barking out it's details people would know what's happening.  So booking in would comprise of an electronic pic of the car as well as the driver details.

- A rough idea of the new layout

If the weather is like it normally is, it would make for a fantastic promotion and with this being a word of mouth hobby, I believe it could go well - if it's sunny!

Things to consider: -

The region is on its knees for off road especially with attendance figures.

Without the regionals in the EoE we may be looking at travelling quite a distance to get to another region.

Mid-South region tracks are between 1.5 and 3.5 hour journeys. (Up to Swindon)
South East are between 1.5 and 2 hours. (Up to Faversham)
Mid East are all 3 hours from Colchester. Holbeach to Broxtowe

I thought after this seasons turn outs at the EoE regionals, that was it?  Is it not then?

I think it will be hugely dependant upon what happens at the AGM.  Speculation, and I say again, speculation, is that Trevor might be stepping down (not putting his nomination forward for the vote) at the end of this season.  (Trevor is voted in every year as per the rules). Which means the EoE will need a new BRCA rep.  Someone will have to put themselves forward and then they will need to be voted in.

It could be looked at as the final nail in the EoE coffin. OR..... it could be new life and a new energy. Depends on who does; says and votes for what at the AGM.

I think that before we start packing our bags for trips to the nearest region, is it not worth us getting together and seeing if we can pull this one up?

A 40 minute drive could save us many hours on the motorways.  if nothing comes from the AGM, then at least we can say we gave it a shot.

Another thing

I would like to see the National point scoring system adopted.  1 point for TQ, 130 points for A1 finisher after 3 legs, and descending down point by point.

I would like to see 30 minutes between heats and finals.  Although, could possibly extend to 1 hour between finals.

That way, qualifying is exactly that, qualifying.  All points are earned in a "racing" format.

Single finals for B finals and down.  Although, if numbers and time permits, 2 legs for B finals.

Ideally, I would like to see just 2 timed qualys (possibly 3) and all finals over 3 legs. With the low numbers, shorter stop periods and strict refereeing during the race; it should make for some excellent racing.

Here is a message from Trevor Brown (EoE Rep)

________________________________________________________________________________
I am holding the Regional AGM at the Fox Inn Pakenham IP31 2JU on Tuesday 17th November 2009 to start promptly at
7:30 pm.
It would be good to see as many Clubs and drivers turn up as possible.

The future of the 1:10th Electric Off Road Regional Series needs to be determined following the low turnouts and the
general lack of interest this year.

I will not be available for the post of Regional Representative for 2010.

Please let me have any items for an agenda which I will then post up later.

Trevor

Ammendment to duration between a drivers heats: -

With this I think it should be reduced to 30minutes.  But ........

If a driver feels the need to require more time;  an extension can be requested immeadiatly after the heat has finished.  The extension will automatically be granted for an additional 15minutes.   That way, if no request is issued the meeting moves on at pace.

This would help in instances where a major setup change is required, or a major repair needs to be carried out.

As far as I am aware there are not any rules regarding this, and only a consensus between race directors would be enough.

With 20 attending, this could mean a start time of heat 1 at 9.30am, would finish qualy by 11.30 and complete the days racing by 1.30pm.

That is also an allowance of 1hour between finals.  Which could also be reduced to 30 minutes as above.

(Edit - removed line with bad calculations Rolling Eyes )
