Ben - I don't know where to start really. Perhaps you should be running the country, I'm sure you'd do a better job than the current load of boll*cks  Laughing

Anyway, Petit next weekend & I'm getting excited now. I don't want to see your car prep let you down, especially as you've put a lot of effort into getting the event sorted, so..

Al's Patronising Pre-Race Check List For Ben H

Transmitter
Charge it.
Test it.
Pack it!
Pack the charger too if necessary.

12v battery/Power supply
Charged?
Pack it!

Cells / Lipo's
In working condition?
Wires & connectors ok, no fraying or damage?
Charge them.
Pack them.

Speed Controller
Works?
Setup correct? (Brakes, neutral etc)
Wires & connectors ok?

Motor
Works?
Wires all good?

Wheels & Tyres
Got the right tyres on the right wheels?
Glue em.

Chassis
Spanner check all screws & bolts. Use threadlock 242 or similar on any machine screws prone to vibrating loose.
Remove shock aborbers and check all wishbones move freely, no binding.
Got the right shock pistons / springs / oil? oil need topping up?
Re-attach shocks.
Steeering all ok? Check ballcups / king pins etc make sure all free moving.
Belt / Driveshafts all ok? Check tension, etc.
Slipper clutch set ok?
Pinion gear correct? Check meshing? (I sometimes remove the pinion gear to check the transmission is running nice and freely. Use a dab of threadlock to secure the grub screw on the pinion gear)

That's a good start.

Now watch as my car prep fails. I'll probably forget to pack the transmitter or something.  Very Happy

That is brilliant!!!  I think a little wee came out!  Laughing

No sh't I am now printing it out!  AND I have scheduled some time with Zipper on Thursday to ensure I haven't done the, "it'll be alright" preparation. Laughing

No excuses this time.  I want to turn up and have everyone feel comfortable with the conclusion, Hubbard's cars were in tip top condition, he just drove like a complete <insert common expletive>

Besides, I have the John Myall car of 2008, 4WD Winner, Club Champs winner and WRS Champion winner. I have the cells from Mr East. I have the Moons aligned and a small warehouse of spares.  No excuses, no bad luck.  And for the first time, I want to get a least in the same final as Zipper. He has whooped me at theses events for too long! I have also set aside a budget for the hotel bar offering copius amounts of free drink to anyone whos forum name begins with a "z".

Hi all, No spare set up's will be allowed, the origional car parts will be marked and replacements when changed need to be re-marked , so only the broken bits can be changed, not whole front or rear ends!!!

I would say eight drivers  and costing no more than £50.00 each as no rooms will be needed.

I could / should get some help from DMS on the costs.

one hour per driver on rotation 2wd (X^6) say 13.5 turn motor with the right lipo's should get half an hour ish between changes..

Five drivers in attendance while three rest..

Drivers list????????????

Paul Newman
Daniel Newman

EWS will pay the fuel and should be able to get a bus for the weekend FOC..

Post quick if anyone is intrested and we can all get Benh to sort the rest out??

Come on John and Andy ur club needs you!

Wiggles..

You forgot it was the car of 2007 as well, 4wd Winner, Club Champs winner, 4wd R & R winner, LBC Masters winner, 3rd place and top F5 in the 2008 East of England Regional series, it goes on Wink

Wiggles, it does sound like a bit of fun, I have the right car and motor here as well, 13.5 brushless in a X-6, but I can't get any more time off work till the start of April, when our holiday quota starts again Confused

I do believe the x6, 13.5 lipo combo would pay massive dividends. it would run for ages and would be so easy to drive. The gearbox would last the whole race if it were fresh built, and all there is nothing difficult to change on them.

Hour long stints would be an absolute killer. I reckon you could easily get the car to run for 20 minutes before the battery starts to go(a touring car around coastal lasts 17-18 minutes at full race pace with 13.5).
The main issue in endurance racing is the weakest link. Generally the idiot behind the wheel. In the endurance races i have competed in previously my brain has been fried after the 20ish minute stints. It maybe easier with a buggy as they are easier to drive than a touring car but it will still take it out of you.

As Al said its a shame its so soon after petit as i would be well up for this. An event like this has got Team LBC+1 written all over it.

How about the LBC or Coastal off road 4 hour. 1 car, teams of 4 drivers, 1 seriously cut up track Laughing
