Re: Worn Rubber Series - ROUND 1: 23rd Nov 2008What a day! one of the most enjoyable days racing I've ever had, even though it was proper brass monkey weather, had so much fun, I forgot my feet were numb with the cold didn't thaw out till halfway home
Big thanks to Coastal for letting us play on their track, made a nice change to grass and dirt.
Best bit of the day for me, was Joy winding Spike up that she would beat him in the final, of her first meeting, then doing it! ok he had to borrow Mark Funky's car, but still....

Times that would compete with touring cars? I thought we crushed their times yesterday yes it was wet, but they do have proper wet weather tyres, to go with the purpose built on road cars. I still think the fastest touring car should have took on the fastest buggy on the grass at the end
Roll on the next one, hopefully not quite as cold, or wet.

That's my beloved B-Max screwdriver (with the red & black handle)!
None of the other tools are mine.
Bring it along on friday, so long as you don't lose it in the meantime
As for the meeting - we must be bonkers, completely bonkers

Genius!
I must say that Joy drove really well that day. I think she did really well with the car - especially as the mechanic - or pit "dog" had a conflict of interest

That was a mad day, glad to report my b4 speedo is'nt dead! the bluetac mod on receiver seemed to be creating a short no probs now!
John was super fast! its going to take some super smooth skills to get near him in future rounds!
Its was about halfway through the Bfinal when I found out you really need to use the breaks to go fast, was that what others were doing or should I put the 7.5 in the B44?
I to thought Joy totally nailed her first meeting, and it won't ever get harder then that! could she be LBC's first truely great female driver???!! or indeed is she the first? Jim consult the Oracles.
I think those are me pilers Ben.

I'm pretty sure I didn't touch the brakes once all day, running a 5.5 in the BX as well, same gearing as I run off-road, in fact the only change I made all day, was to lower the front by 1 turn on the shocks for the final, everything else was the same as it always is.
I would say that I didn't find that the B44 liked running on tarmac much when I tried it at a Model Junction meet earlier in the year, but then I did find that I didn't like it much anywhere
The BX has a really strong front end, really doesn't know what understeer is, means you can just chuck it into a corner knowing it'll go round, just had to watch the rear coming out of some of the corners when it was ice/slushy.

I had differential disaster when the S4 was on the track - for all of two corners before the motor went to sleep.
The car to the rescue - the bag of bolts - ZX5SP was front dif with one way on the shaft. A HUGE difference. No more push understeer, tap on the brakes to start the drift, and on some corners drag brake was sufficient, then it was down to applying the right amount of throttle. Sometimes a little eager, but mostly very enjoyable.
It will be the ZX out next week too! The S4 is hibernating for the winter!
