Spike & Phil - Coventry

Guys - How did you get on? Question
PHIL

Hi guys had a good time BUT I didn't do too well Sad I didn't drive as well as I know I can Confused it didn't help that I've got bad Man-Flu and was up all sat night being sick  Shocked

But I've done a meeting now and i am really looking forward to some proper race int a couple of weeks:D

I'll let Sam tell his story but he didn't do too good in the 2wd but had a good day in 4wd Very Happy

See you soon Phil Very Happy
Spike

Alright dude, yea as Phil said the 2wd on the Saturday just didn't go right for me, I think the few weeks I'd spent driving 4wd didn't really help, I just couldn't get the feel of the car properly and it was all down to me and not the car. There was a big set of triple jumps like the ones up at East Trax and try as I might nothing I did worked over them and try as I might I just couldn't break the 12 lap barrier, I had a few quick 11 lappers but too many silly mistakes kept it at that. Wierdly enough for the first 3 rounds I finished 65th over all in each out of about a hundred people, which dosen't sound too bad in itself left me right down in the H final and with my final round being only marginally better (63rd) left me qualifying 8th in the H which was a bit lower than I'd managed last year.
The final semed to go pretty well, but I totally lost where I was so just pushed myself as hard as I dared, but I still don't actually know where I finished.
So with the day done and Mags driving Joy and me up the wall asking when Phil was going to turn up with Harry I started to get ready for Sunday and after a good evening relaxing with everyody I woke p feeling fairly positive about the daywhich was quickly shattered when in the first round of practice when I managed to break another rear wishbone after about 3 laps over the dreaded triples, but after a speedy repair the second round the carseened realy positive and above all was clearing the jumps without much problem.
So the first round came and quite a good 11 lapper and 3rd in my heat on the altered track gave me 45th over all.
Then I think it was the second round the track had dried a bit and my greens just wern't working quite as well as they had been in round one, so pushing too hard to try and make up lost time I clipped a hose, sent my car flying and broke the front shock mount.
After more repairs and the loan of some part worn yellow rears from Simon Watson that looked almost brand mew to me to be honest I went out in the 3rd round and finally managed a reasonable 12 324 which cheered me up only to be followed by the last round in which the car felt absolutely lovely and when I heard the race control say drivrs finish on my call I realised I was on for another even better 12 lapper so I played it safe and backed off a little as not to mess up my time which in hind sight
may or may not of been a good thing because I came in with a 12 301.46!! I was stoked with the time, Even more so when I found out that I'd even managed to beat Simons best time of the day by 2 seconds, but there wa the question, could I of got 13 or would me pushing have made me crash and not get the great time I did? Ah well not to worry, with al that I waited to see where my last round time had put me becaue after round 3 I had been 5th in the G which I didn't mind too much, it was certainly an improvement on the day before, but when the final results got put up I'd managed to jump up a whole final and was now 5th in the F!!!
Unfortunately the final didn't go too well I got taken out a couple of times on the first lap and then I presume got a stone stuck in the rear belt which brought the final to an end, but all in all I had a great weekend (despite all the mud!). I've been talking with joy over the weekend and I think that she may be racing rather than watching before too long, I might even try and get something sorted so she can have a go maybe the last race this year.
Anyway enough of my ramblings I'm going to go and see what my lady is up to. see you all soon.  Very Happy
