SEPTEMBER 28th: CLUB CHAMPS ROUND 14

Great weather!

Had a couple of really good races today. Came off second best in both, but 2 cracking races non-the-less - Awesome! Very Happy

Found out the rear wings really do make a difference!!!  Alex, my car was miles better in the final thanks to you!  And what's more - it was a special dual wing - ANDYS you mocked me! Laughing

Good to see Stuvon back at trackside Wink

BenC grabbed 3rd place of the Club Champs with both hands and wrenched it from my dreams, whilst SteveT took 3rd place, wrapped it up in a silk coated box, tied a little bow on and sent it special delivery to: -
Zipper House,
No. 3 Championship Place,
DurgaDurga Ville
HE5 3RD

Zip is still waiting for the official delivery, but can SteveT score 10points more than Zipper in the last round to intercept the post! Shocked

Meeeeeeeeow! The arrival of the CAT's. Very Happy  Didn't get a chance to have a look at them on the track today. (Was too busy beating Mr East!! Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing  Cue flood of abuse and three shock demolition Shocked ) Would be great to read your thoughts on them after their debuts.
ben

Couldn't have gone much better today - seem to have secured both positions I was hoping for Very Happy

Just a shame 2wd was a bit short on numbers - would have been nice to make it a bit more nail biting at the end.

Well done to AndyE & BenH for providing an epic 4wd A final for us to watch (sorry, marshall).
John Myall

A good day, enjoyied myself, even though I broke it and had to sit the rest of the day out.

Great race in the 4wd A Final between Andy "Jedi" East, and BenH, almost thought Ben had it done at one point, but it wasn't to be, maybe next time 'eh Ben?

After the worst possible start after two races and Steve T saying, "I thought you were going to make it difficult for me!!" my day turned around for the better.

The Durga popped out in heat 3, whilst the BJ4 sat in the pit's for repairs, and my luck changed.  Steve T's wheels came off (literally) in two heats.. which put the advantage back with me. After the repairs (thanks Steve T for the servo horn) the BJ4 came alive and felt the best it ever had!  I scored three wins in my final three rounds and it gave me the points I needed to move into third place in the 4WD champs, with one round to go.

A good meeting, lots of laughs and close action as usual!  Bring on the final round!  Very Happy
Stuvon

Wow! Well it was good to be back!

I was impressed with the CATs but not enough to buy one yet. I reckon with some set-up work they'll be right on the pace, and they looked strong too!

My cells were letting me down (exemplified by Ben H saying "after the first lap you seemed to back off!") but hopefully I'll be fully under Li-Po power in a month or so.

The D4 was as impeccable as always and I'll be keeping it for next season, just got to work out how to get Li-Po saddles in the BK2.

Well done to everyone who was there, the driving standard was even better then the weather!

As usual a big thank you to all who help with the running of the meetings.  In particular Jim, you could just tell he wasn't having a stella day and would have prefferred to be at home for this one...

It was nice to see a couple of pussies too.  I have to say that the frosted look on Phils was particularly cool.

I did feel sorry for SteveT... a long day for dick-all return.

It was an interesting day for me, but the highlights have to be chalking up another victim with the mighty 3-shocker and the final... which I have to say Ben did deserve more than I did... however, least we forget the reason I was down the back of the pack was because of an un-provoked assault on the back of my car by the very chap who inhereted the lead for much of the race... well, all but the important bit anyway (in your face Hubbard!)

I had a great days racing, loads of fun, loads of laughs (japseye) and I learned a lot of things that will carry through to next year.  Which hopefully (rules allowing) will be a 3-pronged assault at the regionals.  Roll on next year.

See you all soon
Andy

Ah the story of my weekend.
After having been beaten 8-1 in my hockey game on saturday, No I was not in goal Mr Myall, I had high hopes for the racing on Sunday. After all I spent several hours on a rebuild including a brand new diff.

I felt confident. I felt very confident.

I asked Mr East about rear suspension set up and made some minor changes and the car was transformed, cheers mate.

I felt confident. I felt very confident

I did'nt race until heat 6 by which time Lee had raced twice scoring a total of 5 points which caused me to comment " This seems too easy".

I felt confident. I felt very confident

Heat 6 and 7. After a possible 2nd and first place finish, The wheels fell off......literally.

I felt upset. I felt less confident.

Heat 10, another close battle with the 'botch' and Lee up to the point my brand new diff melted.

I felt gutted. I felt 3rd slipping away

I checked my spares box and realised that I could not rebuild my diff...but never mind someone must have a spare so I asked Jim. He said he did have one but I thought that it would not fit.....it would have.

I felt stupid. I felt very stupid

By this stage Lee had an issue, he needed a servo horn and no-one appeared to have one.....no-one but me.
What to do? I could say nothing, I could mock, I could......oh who am I kidding. The servo horn was on Lee's table within minutes of hearing of his problem (All of us would have done the same).
Lee then won his next three races (Well done mate) and suddenly had a 10 point lead on me.

I felt resigned. I felt the doom and gloom of 4th.

I finished all my marshalling comitments ,as it seemed the thing to do....and I was waiting for George to pick up the X6 I was selling him.
I then helped with the finals and finally a beam of sunlight in a otherwise cloudy day.

I felt happy. I felt very happy because I could say:

Two things to say Ben.
1. You drove excellent and Andy had serious issues trying to beat you in the final

2. My brother and I had a massive laugh at my expense after reading your original post. V funny
ben

Steve - a couple of hours rebuild including a new diff!

Explains everything Wink
LBC

There's traces of steam coming from me ears still, though whether it's the remnants of track rage from Sunday or the fact I've had me head over a bowl of Friar's Balsam for the last 24 hours, I'm not sure Evil or Very Mad  Laughing
Anyway, nothing can be taken away from Ben C, he drove like a demon all day- well done Benny boy (I think I'm gonna have to change to your set-up Wink )
Commiserations to Steve -he looked pretty sharp and determined from the off, until the off applied to his wheels! I think Ben's last post summed-up Steve's woes!
Nice to see Stuvon racing with us. Let's see more of you next season Stu!
Disappointed with the turn-out, especially 2wd, but it still made for some good racing throughout.
Race of the day: 4wd "A" - Andy E & Ben H....brilliant!

You can still beat me Steve!  Like you had this week, I've had some meetings of terrible luck... so anything could happen at the final Club Champs!  Very Happy

Very pleased with the cat still in one piece well apart from the servo horn Shocked   but that was my fault really looking to hard into the setup and forgetting to cut the outer rows off my tyres Embarassed  but after that little taboo much better manged two second places I think, also without pushing to hard Smile all i gotta do now is find a good setup also need to sort my shock seals as one them lost half it's oil!!! and I even built them with green slim! a little racers tip I just found online is to soak the o rings in oil for 12 hours we shall see if this works?

also i put a note in the wanted section has anyone got the losi piston drill bits that i could either borrow or buy thanks

see you soon Phil Very Happy
