PETIT RC Race 2008Dear Friends,
I would like to announce that in exclusivity on your website.
Since April I worked about it to do my 3rd edition and also to celabrate the 10th birthday of PETIT RC! Imagine......
BUT in June, the town of Maisons-Alfort said to me that the complex (of the last edition) is not available In December!
Then I tried to contact 2 others town but nothing is avalable and also, that is not simple to find a complex with 150 peaple inside per day...
1 Spanish club tried to help me and ask their town to organize the "PETIT RC World Tour 2008" in a very big and beautiful complex... That was for me an excellent idea to promote my race outside France but nothing was available in november and December.
And I tried to an another French town near Paris but last weekend this town inform me that November and December were not available...
I'm disapointed to announce that but I tried to do my best for you....
I wanted to celabrate the 10th anniversary of PETIT RC but....
I will send an email to all drivers to announce that...
I noticed a lot of people (outside France) very motivate as you and that is a real pleasure.
Thank a lot to you,
Nicolas Petit

After sobbing throughout the night, I have calmed a little to write this clear headed response.
Calling all Kamikaze Noobs, exploding NiMs and in the immortal words of He-Man "By the Fire of LiPo" - We should take the building by storm and block the entrances. We need only hold the Al"Fort" for 3 days. With some team work, dedication and commitment to the greater cause we can race once again, taking our rightful place at the base of the table!
Alternatively, we can wait until 2009?

That is a shame.... hopefully Petit Race will take place in 2009. This should hopefully give us lot enough time to master our skills!

That is the reason why I appreciated you
With your club, do you have the opportunity to get a big complex to organize the PRC Race 2008 in December in your country?
I tried with Spanish club but nothing avalaible in their big complex as Maisons-Alfort!
I try one more to find something before the end of October because it will be to late after this month...
PETIT RC is not a club and that is very difficult to find a big complex for RC!

Wembley!
Brilliant idea! Bring it to the UK. Now - where to find facilities.
The nearest indoor sports facilities to us in the South East are: -
1 Colchester Leisure World
2 Highwoods Sports & Recreation Centre (Gilberd School)
3 Tiptree Sports Centre
4 University of Essex Sports Centre
5 Philip Morant School & 6th Form College Sports Hall
6 Sir Charles Lucas Centre for Sports and Art
7 St Benedicts Catholic College
8 St Helena School Sports Hall
9 Stanway School Sports Facilities
But none of them will offer the auditorium required for the capacity.
Then there's Kent or London. I would suggest keeping it near the south as many will be travelling by ferry and/or Chunnel from the Continent.
With all the prospective redundancies in the banking sector, Canary Wharf might be quite good for space!

Mr Newman!
You have supplied some big contract work for various organisations. What's your knowledge on Sports facilities or =/<250 seat auditoriums in the south east?

|
Dear Ben,
thank for your help. You're right, the best way will be in the south ou England to get Belgium, France, Germany, etc and you, English drivers of course!
We need an RC complex as Maisons ALfort last year - The capacity for drivers were 100 drivers per day (2 days) - The best way for me and for you : on friday practises all the day or afternoon and weekend, race!
Need carpet of course!
South east? why not where?
all infos are welcome of course and I really enjoy any help...

Hi Ben, Just got back from Lincoln , the only one that springs to mind would be Wembley or the O2 dome mate.
Why not try one of the kent based clubs like Favasham to see what they might have local????

After some thinking I thought it would be best to hunt down something closer to home. Went for the Charter Hall in Colchester. This would make it logistically possible. Anywhere else and it would more beneficial for someone closer to that region to assist.
But........ a £2,500 price tag for the hall appears to have put a stop to the whole thing. Dropped Nicolas a PM but not heard anything back, so I am assuming it's the price tag. Then there's the racing carpet, all the jumps, track marking and associated paraphernalia.
Need 200 entries to make it work and that's dependant on many from continental Europe venturing across.

Due to being sworn to secrecy. I cannot divulge too much information but.........
Scrape some pennies together and brace yourselves. It's within a nano-meter of going ahead.
If it does, can we get some provisional names for booking in for the UK Petit in January.
Let's make it an LBC invasion!
Besides, if we get enough together, we could tactically work together to guarantee an A final position for one person. Bid's for A-Final candidates start at £5.00 and all proceeds go towards sacrificial kamikazee pilots

Maritime is an awesome facility. I have raced touring cars there earlier in the year not long after it first opened.
Permenant carpet track. Purpose built pitting area with 240v supplys. Food and drink on supply and best of all there is a roof over your heads.
One point to note is that you have to carry all your gear up 4 flights of narrow stairs as the track is on the top floor of a dockyard building but its all good fun.
The LBC (plus honoury member) on tour calender is looking rather exciting. Looking forward to it.

Dear friends,
I'm really happy to read a lot of exciting message on internet about my PETIT RC RACE "Europe Tour". You (UK drivers) seems more exciting than French drivers when the 2 editions were in France!
Sincerely I'm really glad that you are exciting to race!
I would like one more time to thank Ben for his big help since 2 weeks...
For my PETIT RC RACE, I will buy a new carpet and not use the currently carpet of Maritime Raceway club...
I will present at Maritime Raceway venue the 8th and 9th of November for Carpet Wars. I will there to see the venue and all details to organize the PETIT RC RACE "Europe Tour".
If you go there, do not hesitate to meet me.

What's the general concensus - are we going to do both days & stay down there or just the usual 4wd?
It's only an extra 10 euros to do both so I might book in for both regardless (could always drive down twice - it's only 76 miles).
No time to waste - it's filling up fast!

Its a lot of effort to do two different classes on conecutive days. I just didnt fancy it. Besides, I have not really given the XXXT a good run out yet and if I did do two classes I would stay overnight and I am sure Ben C couldnt handle my snoring and I have heard that there is nowhere in Gillingham that does a decent salmon pizza

I would like to stay here http://www.george-hotel.co.uk/bar.php#
It's 600 yards from the event.
It does food and booze
We can leave cars at the hotel and take one vehicle to the event. If it's a squeeze, the gear can go in the car and we can take a morning stroll after the full english (included in price) and clear those foggy slightly hung over heads!
Friday night and Saturday night with a room share is about £60 each. But no cabs, no breakfast to add on etc.
But it's right there, no cabs, no breakfast bills etc. After you take the cost of those off, it works out about £20 per night each.
Whadya reckon

Bit more than I wanted to spend, but a convincing arguement nevertheless Mr Hubbard. I'll make a decision tomorrow. Mmm..full English you say?

Being a lazy git and it being close enough to xmas that I wouldn't have spent the £20 - (grandparent nearly in law xmas money). It (in my mind) comes down to £20 for the weekend excluding cabs, breakfast expense etc.
But with at least a couple of us based there we can use it as the local social club/ car park, should anyone choose the Travelodge.
However there will be a Pint of Fosters "yes Mr Hotelier we know them" surcharge

And that means all are accepted (trakpower, the new lipo in 2009,etc. I don't want to restrict ANYBODY and all dimension are welcome.....the only restrictive is that you will use additional lead to reach the legal weight in 3 classes
