What better gift, than an entire day without us hanging around with long faces wishing we were racing!
By the way - With the exception of Mr Wiggles (wasn't sure you would for defo by your post ), I have booked everyone in.
Al, George, Phil, Zipper, Ben C and Me. Please click the link and check the details I have entered.
BACK ON TOUR!
|
Wiggles

Thanks Zipper, but i'm not that brave and do not want to spoil the years racing before it gets going, so good luck and have fun.
W.
Sorry Ben i must be tired as i thought that Zipper had posted and not you mate.

That's what I like to see Ben - somebody not shy of taking command! But, how does running 2wd and 4wd at the same meeting work? I share the same motor and speedo for instance, so I guess that's going to be a ball ache if I have to keep swapping the kit between cars all day?

You'll need two lots of electrics as they are running them side by side. Look's like you need to make a choice...
|
BenH
|
Does anyone need their details changing?
Al, go for 4WD - If we are in seperate heats I am more than willing to share my 2WD. If your a stick person (I don't mean in the Lowry sense!), we will only need to switch rx. If you're a wheel man, we swap nothing.
I promise to have all electrics in it and set up before we arrive. I will be calling on LBC's B4 master - Juddy - for his tarmac shock settings and weight distribution - as I believe it will be awesome for the low grip slippery stuff.
If we end up in the same final, that will be interesting. But we can cross that bridge later - or highest postion gets to run the final!

Al, i have a spare mamba max brushless system if you would like to borrow it. I also have a servo ready to just drop sraight into a b4 if you would like to borrow that as well. Just let me know and i will bring them down for you.

Alfonzo II
|
I love you guys
But to be honest - how much time will you have between heats anyway, even if you do have 2 complete setups? Could be well frantic!
|
ben
|
I don't have two complete ready to go buggies either.
Got a few little bits to swap over & change for each run, such as a xtal & transmitter settings.
Nothing I can't work around - so long as I'm not in consecutive races I'll be OK
|
PHIL
|
mothers day is MARCH 22
BenH is it ok if i catch a lift with you again PLEASE
also I only want to do 4wd so if any one wants to borrow my 2wd B4 they are more than welcome, all you will need is a receiver
let me know cheers phil

Ah ha - I will have more time than our last visit.
1 - I have a car that is stronger than an S4 (Especially when I have secured the motor properly!!!) No more chassis flex and destroying gears.
2 - I have a set up that is drivable for the 4WD.
3 - I will turn up with nothing more than a switch to throw. No NiMhs to mess with!
4 - A B4 that is good fun and will be fully equipped with no changes to be made. Quick velcro stick of a PT - done!
5 - I am feeling a lot more confident of an indoor showing. And handing Georges arse to him! BOTH classes

Easy. Also, I can help you! Especially if you feel like it needs to take a lot longer than it should

I'll update yours Phil - Lift wise - No problemo - already pencilled you in
|
Alfonzo II
|
Ok, I'll join you for two classes and take No 46 (George?) up on his very kind offer of using his spare Mamba Max system, or if that fails take The Hubster up on his equally kind offer of a 'Car Share'.
Yee-haa!

Early doors again. Also I get an extra 20 minutes sleep on George. If that equates to Laps, game on!
| Wiggles wrote: | Opps, must be my German wall planner.......

I knew it!!! You're not building a fleet for your hobby! Your building an RC arsenal. It all becomes clear. Building ramps for unmanned Lithium based bombs to take off! Sounds like Atomized Doodlebugs to me.!!! I have written a letter to Alex of Franz Ferdinand. He couldn't understand why the imitation technology of WW2 was going to be used to re-create WW1 and take out a POP band, but I explained the Mothers day mix up and he's agreed to go into hiding.

I'm up for it, if i'm not doing anything else if ya know what mean.

Just realised it's this weekend
Am I OK for a lift with whoever's driving down?
All that effort getting the TC ready to race at Coastal & I've got to take it all apart again to put the bits back in the XXX
I saw on the entry form thread that doors open at 7.30. That's ridiculous, we're gonna have to leave in the middle of the night. No beer for me on saturday night

Mr W. - George and Zipper will be first up I reckon - 5.30am shout.
Zipper, George I am happy for you to come to mine, but as a thought, it's the most direct route from where you live to Newbury to go to Tolgate and on the way home you don't have to mince about in Manningtree either. In fact, I reckon Zipper and George will be home about the same time as me if we were to meet at Tolgate and drop the cars there.
I can be loaded from the night before, collect Ben at 6.00am. 6.10 leave man'ree. Tolgate by 6.30 - On the road with breakfasts by 6.40 and Newbury by 8am. Pit set by 8.15 - 8.30. Practice, More breakfast, sleep, lunch, quick race and home

I'm in now! Can I bum a lift? I've driven to Hamshire so many times on my own, its boring!!!
Who else wishes they had a micro! I've nearly brought one off ebay so many times! can't wait to see them in action!

Bugger. I'm not going to make it. I'm going to have to spend the weekend building Hot Air Balloons instead. I guess I should be grateful we've got so much work on
Gutted. Good luck LBC Away Team.

Juddy - the Micro's are as quick as 1:10th pretty much, amazing little things, they look demented!

First things first.
You won't believe it........... I am prepared!!!! And with 3 days to spare!!!
Electrics, shocks, tyres are on. THE WHOLE LOT, ready to go. I can walk in and put a car straight on a track and go! No panic, no deperate plee for help as I miss the start, forget the PT, forget to glue the tyres, connect up with reverse polarity.
On top of all that. I am feeling a little confident too.

I would say unlucky, but given the climate. Nice See you soon we hope. LBC on tour will be LBC at home soon as the season starts - AT LAST!!! Now how about a touch of that global warming.

Juddy - George has made arrangments with Wiggles. There's space

I needed to give an answer on the truck. It's more economical, it's faster and easier to drive and George is going with Wiggles, so I am taking the car.

|
What time did the Hubbard taxi arrive home last night after a stay in the biggest free car park in the world?
Wiggles lived up to his name weaving his way through the back streets of London City doing his white van man thing probably knows his way around those streets more than a lot of the cabbies. Good job to as it saved us a load of time on the way home
|
PHIL
|
We finally made it to tollgate around 10.00 then had to make it home from there i don't think i ever want to do that journey again
Nevermind the start of LBC is just around the corner
P.S is my shell ready yet George?

To true
there was one bloke in the 4wd A final missing the chicane nearly every time. Annoyingly the only time he went through the chicane when i was racing him was when he landed right on top of my car
|
Alfonzo II
|
Did I miss much?
|
Juddy
|
No mate, you did'nt miss a thing! For future ref i would'nt recommend doing 2 classes in one day to anyone! I don't work that hard for living!!!
Indoor racing is really bad for my confidence! I just am waiting to crash all the time!!! Zip and ben are both a bit pro at it though, the speed Zip got round some of those corners was a joy to behold!
It was'nt the best run meeting in the world, the block who ran it, was swearing at little kids, starting races without all the cars and marshals and just letting himself and his club down, I won't be going back!
I will try again at indoor racing, but I don't think i;ll ever be as good at it as some of our other members! Well done chaps!
|
Alfonzo II

Draw a line under it Judd Mesiter.
Let's OFF ROAD, OUTSIDE!
not long now..

Second Juddies view on the running of the meeting. Not the best but then we are spoilt around this way.
Doing two classes was just mad, especially as they weren't allowing any time for you to get your transponders from whichever numpty had not brought it back.
I do enjoy the indoor racing but you have got to drive it completely differentely to outdoors. You have to be really precise and slow is definetely fast in this case. If you try to force the car round you just run wide or smack the inner markings.
I do think that Newbury lay out a great circuit. You can actually drive and race the circuit without worrying that a jump or obsticle is going to bite you on the arse if you get it just a tiny bit wrong. I loved the crossover jump as well. I was able to get so much airtime that i could watch hubbard crashing on the back straight
|
Wiggles
|
I thought it was just me crashing, had no time to see anyone else race not even my Dan..
Will be doing Petit but i think that will be the limit of my indoor season this year.
We were also going to run in the mid south regionals but after the time it takes to get there and back we have settled to do the EOE condensed regional series instead.
Think we were all on the back foot from the start with getting there a bit late!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway always good to be with the away team but glad we missed the traffic and the free car parking .
Oh and by the way never try to follow Hubbard unless you are in a sports car as he never looks back to see if your still there
W.
Oh i also can do a nice cheep line in used buggy kit, as i still have lots that were left in my van (Lawford away team kit transport manager)

Its a pity that almost everyone had a negative experience, but I guess even the Newbury boys would admit the meeting was a bit of a nightmare.
They do say that they have fixed the problem with the lap counting problem but I know having no leeway on the start of your heat is annoying.
You should bare in mind that I do the same journey (in reverse) on regular basis and good or bad I still keep coming back.....

Looking at the Newbury results I was suprised at how close Dan got to me in the "C" final.
Watch for him this season he may spring a suprise......

I don't think anyone of us are going to be suprised by Dan this year, we're all expecting him to do something good after the speed he showed at one of the WRS rounds

Steve, reading this, I get the idea its not so much the trip that has put the lads off going back, after all they have done it before, but the fact that the meeting seems to have been run by monkeys
At least when you have made the same trip to race up here, you know the meeting will always be well run, and any bad meets you've had, are more to do with you keep on buying the wrong cars we all like chocolate, but not when our cars are made from it
