MARCH 15th: LBC HANDICAP TROPHY

WE'RE BACK!!! Very Happy   The weather was superb, the turnout was good and I for one had a very enjoyable meeting.

The Yok, I felt was a great car today. Fingers let it down a couple of times.   I have a couple of things I would like to change slighty, but the best car I have driven down there and looking forward to the club champs.

My stand outs of the day were Colesie. Didn't see a single race of his, but a 2nd place!!!  It must have been an amazing drive!!!  And Kam - 3rd place.  Well done.

The B4.  Anyone thinking of buying an indestructable car - Get a B4 Shocked  Shocked  Shocked

Hi All, good day ?????????

Spot on ramps , just need a little more work and better positioning around the track me thinks and thanks to no 46 for his help with construction and testing of said ramps.

Also for his help in keeping the truck going after dans distruction attempts on it!

Good to be back racing again with the good weather to boot and catching up with all the old faces.

Thanks to Jim and see you all in a couple of weeks.

The ramps really do need moving.  They were impossible to judge where they were and that was really apparent yesterday as we all struggled with them.  I also felt the flat section at the top of the ramps was way too short, which made them difficult to clear safely.  George assures me he is on the case, as well as adding some much needed grip to the ramps.

As you've all already said, it was good to be back on the grass!  After an annoying start, due to electrical problems, I had a good day.  Kamryon loved yesterday.... I wonder why!  Laughing

Yeh agree with you there Zipper..but,

Just wish there was more input into the construction and design of them rather than moaning about them.( most people were quite put off by them yesterday)
All the club members are more than welcome to help out with the modifications or scrap the ones with have and start again?

The table tops are ment to be twice the width but time was short and the track was laid so we wre limited on what to do.

Me thinks best thing is approved design submitted , agreed by all and then i will carry out adaptions, extensions, ect..

Also is felt or floor paint going to be used on the surfaces for grip?

Just keep me in the loop and i will sort out asap..

W.. Shocked  Confused

Cheers wiggles excellent ramps, thanks for putting the time and effort into supplying and making them Wink  they make a very good addition in my opinion (maybe they could be a little closer so we could see them Shocked  Laughing  Laughing )

Had a great day watched some really good racing today, glad to see everyone and some new faces.

see you all in a couple of weeks Phil Very Happy

Just moving them much closer to the rostrum will help.  The far away sections of the track are hard enough for most of us to contend even without the ramps!

Is there anyway we could get some astro turf for them?  I have no idea how much this stuff costs?

A small pic I know, but the up and down sections of the ramps are very long which also makes it a bit easier.
Wiggles

Hi , There was some astro on opple a couple of weeks back for free, just needed to pick up from the peterborough area.

I have the vans just not the time?

Longer ramps also in mind with a bit of a curve to them as well..

I think the plan with what we have as a basis is to make a 90 degree table top and a long up and over crossover like at newburry??
Some small humps (2 or 3) , banked corner and a wall of death??

Any ideas or plans most welcome.

W.

I'd just like to give a HUGE thanks to W. for providing all the materials, and to W. and George for their time constructing them.
As W. said, we can adapt the ramps as we go.
It was my fault the ramps were placed where they were. The reason was one of convenience. I suggested putting them there to save uprooting half the track, which had already been laid.
They will be placed nearer the rostrum next week!
Regarding felt/paint, Colesie (bless him) is going to get some non-slip paint to cover them.
Anyway, again a HUGE thanks to W. Very Happy

As for the meeting itself, my 'drivers of the day' were Kamryon and Dan.
But for a couple of retirements each, either one could have won - well done to you both! And well done to both Neil (Nobby) and Mike for some impressive driving after a 25 year break!
All in all a grand start to the season, and thanks to all who attended.

It's down to the nitty-gritty stuff next week.....can't wait! Very Happy

Totally agree and I don't want them to think I'm moaning with my comments above!  There is nothing more satisfying than jumping a table top properly, I just want to be able to see it!  Laughing

Video of the ramps can be found here: http://lawfordbuggyclub.myfastforum.org/ftopic2652-0-0-asc-.php

What a great turn out - if we can get those numbers for the club champs, we'll be in for a great season Very Happy

The table tops looked great, it was just the positioning that made them difficult, I'm sure they'll be in a more visible spot by the time we get to the serious stuff.

Both my cars felt good, just a combination of beer, talent & eyesight holding me back.

Just fed up that I can't make 10 club champs now. I'll be praying for rain on a few sundays throughout the year!

Everything I've got planned for this year seems to clash with a club champs round - sod's law has stitched me up big time Evil or Very Mad

Wedding & honeymoon take out 4 rounds alone...

My only hope is a lot of rain or a free bar at my wedding reception (there's a cc round the morning after), which sadly I could never afford (especially if Jim comes!) Laughing

Was thinking.. Can get anti slip paint no worries.... but.. reckon it will scratch the bottom of peep's cars a bit.
Especially hitting the ramps at the pace that some seem to like.. Mr Hubbard Laughing
I dont really like the idea of that ..

Grippy and soft is good???
b4 sloth

I thought the day was brilliant. I had been waiting such a long time to get a car up and running. Speedo worked, batteries worked and nothing broke. I couldnt see the ramp too well and crashed continually- having said that i rolled it on the straight right under the rostrum...and the first corner, the second, the third and so on.
Photos and video are great, think the opening clip is my car plunging off the side of the ramp! Laughing
Thanks all for a great day, hope to be up again soon.
My little girl was well proud of the trophy...asking did u win that 4 me? Bless.

See u all soon
Wiggles

Hi, Phase two ramps underway.

Have managed to get 2 sheets of weld mesh for the cross-over and painted some plywood with some black rubber liquid dpm.(we will see how that goes but it's soft and grippy looking?)

Up and down ramps to be eight foot long with eight ft sq table tops..(about 20 ft long overall)

Will not be a the meeting this week  Crying or Very sad so i will try and get sorted out before i go away.
