JULY 13: CLUB CHAMPS ROUND 9What a day? A car that began as a bag of bolts and with some help from Alex - AGAIN! - Guidance from JohnM - AGAIN - and AndyE - AGAIN, it was back on song by the end of the day (exception to the shocks) - Thank you all - AGAIN!
(Alex - we'll swap those pinions back next time, as I am sure your's is better than mine.)
Zipper, damn unlucky to have an "unbreakable part" break itself through no fault of the driver.
The 2WD A was awesome! Spike turned his car into a tug boat at one point pushing <insert collective noun for an orgy of RC cars?>. How that was even possible? Brilliant!
Phils, JohnM inspired, whispering in my ear on the rostrum for him to lose concentration and crash. Highlight!
Juddy + Beer Festival + Hangover + Racing = B Final
That's about as much as I remember, having my head buried in 2 x S4 gear boxes for the best part of the day and panic to get my other halves birthday gift ON A SUNDAY AT 4PM!!! Idiot. All though someones looking out for me - "3" were open. Phone bought and about to be wrapped!!! I'm saved.

First off I'd like to say sorry for my temper tantrum at the end of the final Every now and again, the Irish side of my temper (Icall him Paddy ) pops his ugly little head out of the box from where he is kept, and today he popped out a few too many times.
Should've known it would be a bad day when I tipped my breakfast down myself after only one bite, happened again on the way home, when some pillock cut me up on the road back to Colchester
Up until the last couple of races, I'd been enjoying the day, had some good "almost" races with Andy, which were fun, until I decided the marshals really needed some more exercise
Suppose I'll have to make a start at fixing the Yok now, seems to be a decent list of bits Paddy has buggered, fancy that, a broken Yokomo

The ramps saw it coming down the straight, braced themselves and after careful instruction did what they needed too. Last time it was SteveT O'Reilly who drove into them at full tilt. Zipper Fitzpatrick tried the last meeting, but he missed!

Thanks again to all, had a really good day's racing again.
John, I won't mention the 'incident' in any detail... but not even the mighty Yokomo was going to win that contest against the solid object... when you see paddy again I suggest you give him a damn good frowning... that'll learn him!
My favourite moment of the day was the marshalls eye contact with john just prior to the 'incident'... it was a brief moment of time that I was truly blessed to witness and will stay with me until my death bed.
See you all sooner rather than later I hope

A day of mixed fortunes for me. Small issue with some ball joints now firmly fixed. But ,after some advice from Darren at DMS, I tried some new shock settings and NOTHING broke (John).
Now if I can just learn to drive............

ah, but did you drive flat out into the ramp at the end of the straight?
I was a bit suprised that the Yok didn't put a hole in it, first time anything has come off better then the car Paddy will have to start paying for the bits he breaks I reckon
Must say a well done to Andy, for being his normal perfect self, won the final even with one shock hanging off the car
Just to annoy Jim , good to see how well Matt's X-6 is going, thats 3 wins from 3 starts for it so far.

I know what you're up to Paddy me boy....Psychology- but you're out of luck, I'm a brainless moron!
Anyway, well done to Matt, it was well deserved (he's a pleasure to race wheel-to-wheel with, as I have every confidence - as I hope he has with me- that he's not going to punt me out the way at the first available opportunity); and well done, too, to Andy....what a win that was, wasn't it John! And only 3 shocks! I suspect it would've rattled me too!
All in all, another grand days racing, and thanks to all who raced, refereed and lap-counted, who made it so.

Apologies to the Black Cat that I must of run over on the way to the track yesterday.
OK, the hangover didn't help but the B4 didn't get the send off it deserved, that's three sub 20 point scores on the spin now - seems my 2wd challenge is fading fast
Huge thanks to Matt who gave me a new wishbone for Brad's B4 - I owe you one mate

ah, but did you drive flat out into the ramp at the end of the straight?
I did'nt but I did have several accidents at full speed where the car cartwheeled numerous times. It seems that I had the shocks at the wrong angle.
Incidently, how did you manage to hit the ramp?

oh that bit was easy , my Irish temper (Paddy), decided it would be much more fun to finish the race by driving flat out into the ramp on purpose
Like I said to Andy and Jim, I'm always trying to keep him locked up, bad things happen when he is about
Anyway Steve, how many bits has the X-5 broke this year? in a year and a half, the Yok stands at 2 rear hinge pins, one front wishbone (yesterday), and 2 non-standard front shock towers (one yesterday), plus a bent front wheel (again, yesterday), plus a few bearings that needed changing, not bad methinks, concidering the crashes I have
Just to try and wind Jim up again, you said yesterday, that the only way you can win the Club Champs, is if Andy comes more offten, and takes points off me, thing is, if he comes too often, he'll win it , you won't be worrying about me

Apart form when i am facing the wrong way and you kindly gave me a lift on your roof to the next corner . The X6 was so much better with the Losi shocks and a good setup, i'll think i'll leave it as it is for now. The races i had with Jim are some of the best i've had for a while and look forward to some more(Laura has started a new job today and no longer has to work on a sunday ). I missed the 4wd A final but i did hear the end of it John.

Unavoidable I'm afraid, Matt, as was me running into Steve B when he rolled it right in front of me. Had I been able to avoid both or either of you, the outcome may have been different- but Hugh Nose!
Besides, after all my hair-tugging and head-banging of the previous three days, I was just glad to have got through the meeting without the diff causing any problems.

No shame in losing to Andy though, he is on a different level to the rest of us
What gets me though, is I was up with him last year, we had some classic races then, I must be getting too old for this
