Brushless on a budget

Hello,

First posting on this forum. Any of you guys any experience of the losi xcelerion brushless combo. I will be racing soonish at the club.
I have seen them for 110 quid- which is cheap. Anyone offer any advice or any alternatives.
Budget is the key!!!
I have a b4 Ft. Am new to it all, made the mistake of buying a peak ravn sv2 on e bay- 3 heats at braxted it needs new brushes (possibly) and a skim..not impressed.
Cheers

No one at the club has the Losi brushless system as yet.  A few of the drivers have the Castle Creations Mamba Max system, that you can pick up new for around £149.99 in the UK or you could chance ordering it from USA and you'll get it for around £100 including shipping.

I've not seen anyone have any problems with the system and it is just as quick as the other system/motor combo's out there.

I've just put one in my Durga.... I'll let you know how I get on with it!

Like Zipper said, my advice would be to order from the States.

Personally, I've had several from Tower Hobbies - at the checkout make sure you tick the 'Gift Order' box and type in the discount code from the Homepage.

Hopefully, you won't get caught at customs if you do this and the discount usually covers the postage (about $25 for 7-10 days delivery).

All being well, the Mamba will cost about £100 and the Novak or LRP systems will cost about £120 - all race proven & very good.

The Mamba isn't BRCA approved but this doesn't matter if you don't intend to do Regionals or Nationals.

The Novak speed controller is large so you'll have to run without a fan in the B4 if you choose that option.

I run the Novak system with a 7.5 motor & it's plenty fast enough & very driveable, even in slippery conditions.

Hope this helps!
