AUGUST 24: CLUB CHAMPS ROUND 12

had a good meeting today Very Happy  apart from the final Crying or Very sad but cant wait till eastrax and i will put up the results for everyone to look at Cool as requested by benh Wink

see ya soon, Dan
BenH

What a day! Little rain at the beginning making a really nice set up a little bonkers and thoughts of "25 seconds - FACT" was scaring me a little Laughing

I must say at this point, Mr Myall, I was exceptionally impressed today. You absolutley trounced the A-Final and whilst it was great to see, it showed that next season is going to be even harder than this season to get anywhere near you Crying or Very sad . Superb driving; and although there is some adding up to do, congratulations on the double!

2WD was excellent again, but I also think the 4WD went up another level today in terms of racing and how close it was at times.

It was great to have outqualified (even if it was from their demise rather than ones ascendancy Rolling Eyes ) both JCB and Andy East in 8 days, although his A final "mocking" like driving on the last lap put this padawan back in his box Laughing

Great to Al and Duncs again! Hope you guys make it for a few more and hopefully with your own car in the not too distant future! Wink

Dan - Good luck next week - Look forward to the results!

Thank you young man Smile

I really enjoyied the meet today, really fell like the last 3 weeks, I've started driving as well as last year. Having a quick look at the points, I think I've got it by 5 points from Jim, so I must thank Steve's B and C for coming first and second in 2wd today, helped me alot Smile

Had some good races with Phil, who was super quick today, should be someone to watch out for next year Cool

Had some good close battles with Andy, which made a change foe this year Smile  shame he had a "Death Ray" meeting, seemed to have most of the luck I had earlier in the year Sad

The A Final was great, really good race, especially hearing the banter between Andy and Ben, almost put me off my race Laughing

First meeting for me with LiPo, really, really good, don't ever want to use NiMh cells again, the car took them really well to, didn't have to change anything on the set-up really, just a little bit of wieght, but not much Cool

Never tease Andy, its like waving a red flag to a bull, its fun for a while, but its always going to hurt at the end! Laughing

Yep, good luck next week Dan, don't worry about what anybody else is doing, there will be some really, really quick kids there, so just enjoy yourself Smile

Thanks Ben and John for kind words Very Happy there will probably be better people than me Confused but if i can keep my car on the track i might have chance of beating them Very Happy

What a mad day! lol!

First off, well done to johnboy, you certainly deserved the pole and the win today.  It is the best I have seen you drive this year, no doubt  Cool

Benny me ol' chum, your desperate choke in the final really made me chuckle, it was the star wars 'So, it is the master versus the apprentice' reaction that got me the most though.  It's always good to keep the sense of humour going... after all, toy cars, field... need I say more?

As for the death ray on my car... well, I have to be honest, the only thing doing damage to my results today was **Cough!** me **Cough!**.  Still, always something to learn from these days, we take these lessons and move on to the next race and never speak of it again  Very Happy

Big thanks to Paul (Sorry  Rolling Eyes ) for the use of his generator and air line, a huge help to all of us who used it, much appreciated indeed.

See you all soon!

Oh, nearly forgot... Shut up 'Ubbard!  Laughing

That'll be Paul then Wink  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

It was bloody handy to have it there to clean the cars off after a race Cool

Hi All,
Great day as always down at the track.

The weather was good for us and i think a wet track suits me better, so here's to more of them in the future.
My S44 & me are starting to get used to each other (most i have ever run one chassis without swapping for another) so i hope for great things in the future.

Well done John, Ben, Andy always good to see people show us how it should be done and Phil has been getting quicker the last few times i have seen him, so watch out.

Thanx all for the suppotive comments for Dan , it is bringing him on so much.

Site genorator/ compressor will attend all future meetings that we make, as it helps us all and i'm sure like me made the strip down at home alot better.
Or if we can not make it ,if someone want's to pick it up and drop it back that's cool as well.

Oh yeh Andy my name is Paul by the way Shocked  Confused  Laughing

Well done all and see you soon,
Paul.

Shocked  Sorry Paul, what made me type Andy?!? Dang this feeble memory of mine!  Maybe i'm not ready for those mind expanding drugs just yet??? Smile
Zipper

Firstly, thanks to Sal for the performance enhancing drugs!  Wink  Laughing

A really good meeting this week and as Ben has already mentioned, the 4WD really did move up a level today.... maybe as the result of a couple of stray Predators that joined in on the action!

John was flying... but it was good to see Phill keep up with him for a couple of laps!  There is a 4-way finish for 3rd in 4WD and if Phill keeps going like he did today, he may just pip us all to it!

It was once again nice to put in a quicker race time than Ben H... a whole 25 seconds quicker infact! The way I'm going, I'll be lapping you soon Benny Boy!  Laughing

Ben C also looked very good today and had some awesome races with Jim.... I also see that moves Ben up into 2nd in 2WD!

Roll on next week!  Very Happy

Did you run the 4800 Trakpower's?  If so, how much weight did you have to add?

Nope, I've got some of the 3200s.

Tried in practice at the Colchester Regional, with only 20grams stuck to the bottom of the cells, more to stop them moving onto the rear belt, car felt really good there, but the track was fairly smooth, so for this week, I took the lead off of the bottom of the cells, and stuck 60 grams along the centre of the car, had the side effect of stopping the cells from moving onto the belt, which was nice Smile

Tried it with the 60grams in practice yesterday, felt really good, just went down on the rear shock collars by one turn. The car just seems to take it really well like this, I guess its cos when the BX was new, cells were lighter then they are today, nobody had even thought of 4200s back then Laughing

I might try a little more weight at some point, but not sure if its really needed, unless the BRCA let us use LiPos at Regionals next year, then I'll have to put some in, as its way underweight at the mo Cool

PHIL

Cheers Guys I really enjoyed racing it's the best I've felt in ages and even though I retired in 1 race and crashed out in the final.

Thanks for the good comments lets hope i can keep my head screwed on and continue to upset the ranks of the above!!

Phil

Very Happy

Phew! That's the hardest days racing I've ever had to do for just 3 Championship points! Hat's off to Ben, who was absolutely on the ball during quali, and Steves B & C for their 1, 2 in the "A" Final. God knows how difficult it would've been had George not had problems and Matt and Juddy had been in the mix!
Still, it's got me a little bit nearer to the finishing line and's put a tad more pressure on the chasing pack, so no complaints.
IT'S OFFICIAL: CONGRATULATIONS TO JOHN "2008 CLUB CHAMPION" and, as usual, well deserved. As others have commented, it was probably his best performance of the year. Well done John Boy!
I gave it me all in the Final and, after a shaky start, found myself trailing Steve B by some distance. I pushed as hard as I could, but there's no stopping Steve once his nose's in front. I pushed a bit too hard towards the end, when comfortably in 2nd, and lost 2 places in the bargain, but fortunately gained a place back when Ben had an altercation on the final bend.
Despite John & Ben C's brilliant performances, my driver of the day (again) was Phil. He's coming on in leaps and bounds, and but for a retirement in his last quali would've made the podium with ease; and put a bit more pressure on Steve T and Lee!  Well done Felipe!!
What a godsend Andy's.....er, Paul's airline was; and good to know it'll be on hand more often, Many thanks An...Paul!!
So, the 2wd has yet to be settled with anyone of the top 4 still in contention; there's a frantic battle for the minor 4wd and the Club Champs places; Andy S looks odds-on for the "B" Finals Trophy, though he's not quite home and dry yet, as Kev, Mark and young Kaine are still in the running.....as are several others! The Junior Champs couldn't be closer with Harry and Kaine both tied on 70 points apiece, with Dan N comfortably in third; so there's plenty more to race for.
Many thanks to all for another grand days racing,
AND GOOD LUCK TO YOUNG DAN AT EASTRAX NEXT WEEK - DON'T FORGET: SLOW IS QUICKER!  P.S.- TELL DAD! Laughing
SteveT

17 points was not what I had in mind but I'm not done yet. Looks like Lee, Phil and I will have a close finish for third.
Bring on the next one.

Don't forget Andy E... he could still do a couple more rounds and beat us all!
