AUGUST 10: CLUB CHAMPS ROUND 11Absolutely gutted. I had the 4WD championship pretty much in the bag and bad luck strikes to give that nooby John Myall, with what would have previously been described as the "slimmest of chances", the "slimmest of chance" and handed it to him on a plate!
I haven't checked, but I am pretty sure the Myall has taken the 4WD championship today. Congratulations John! Well deserved fella, and maybe next year there will be handle full of us making you sweat a little for it in the new season.
Anyway - back to today. Zippers back and what's more he realised which is the better car for him - All together "We told you so"
2WD was really good again, although there were some moments when the 4WD started to show promise of some good and close races.
Learnt a lesson today: - I started behind Steve. His motor or cells was making his car slower than usual which held me up in my pursuit of the resurgent BJ4. Eager to get past, I tried a couple of passes with a slim chance of success and sure enough, no success. Sorry Steve Tangled up and more panic. Lesson - If you are behind someone in a final, that's because they out qualified you. Sit back and take your medicine. If you don't like it, do better in the heats. My lesson learnt with a broken wishbone and a DNF to drive it home!
Big thanks to Sal who persevered with us and our uselessness! Before we get a deserved roasting by Sal or Jim, it may be worth acknowledging how useless we were at times and make an extra effort to know what race is on and get our backsides out to Marshall and/or cars on the line quicker.
Good to see the enemy, sorry, I mean George and Paul here today. I think it might have been reconnaissance for round 2 of the EATC, but don't tell them we've got their number!
Pics - Well, Zipper and I had it on the wrong setting for most of the time. I haven’t been too ruthless on the deleting and I’ll edit a link to them here soon. http://lawfordbuggyclub.myfastfor...astforum.org/sutra10023.php#10023

Thanks mate, but I'm not getting the bunting and ballons out until Jim says that I've won it
As for sweating next year, already been doing it this year think I put too much pressure on myself on trying to retain the tital, which is why I've driven like a plonker all year, it was only after you broke down yesterday, that I thought "I've won this now" that I drove half as well as I did last year, which is how I cruised round only a second and a bit off of Andy's best time from 2 weeks ago, and we all know he is at maximum attack all the time
Other then that, I really enjoyed the day, lots of good racing to see.
Roll on the next one, since there is still a small matter of the Club Champs, maybe its time for the X-6 to come out to play, eh Jim

Bit of a hectic and tiring day - with Kev and Matt not being able to make it through illness (hope you both soon get well); drivers disappearing without saying a word, Sal suffering with toothache; and (as Ben has already mentioned) not much in the way of co-operation from others as to regards marshalling and/or readying themselves for racing!
Please, please, please make an effort! -the racecharts are quite straight forward, it doesn't take an honours degree to work them out, and it would make the meetings a lot more enjoyable for Sal and I. It's difficult enough running a meeting without all this unneccessary shouting and rounding-up of marshals.
Besides that, it was a good days racing, and for me personally 'normal service was resumed' after my last round performance of 'tit of the day'!
I've already mentioned John's title win in the Announcements & News, so I'll not dwell on that other than to say he won it by a Myall!
The 2wd title is far from decided- the top 4 are still in contention, and it's gonna be a titanic struggle to last round.
Driver of the day for me was Phil - I don't know whether his car was going slower or that he has taken my advice to slow things down a bit, but either way it paid off with his best 4wd score/result to date - well done Phil!
Good to see George (and Pa...Paul!) racing with us again, and I hope we see more of him (and Pa) in the future!!
As always, many thanks to all who took part.

No disrespect to the other 4 wheelers, but I'd have thought the points would be easier come by sticking to 4wd John!

Maybe so, and I would like to race Andy some more, just to see if finaly this year I can keep up with him! Plus since this weekend coming is the last BRCA event I'm doing this year, I'm about to order some saddle pack LiPos, so it would be interesting to see how the trusty old Yok goes with them. Hopefully it'll go well, so no more NiMh for me
However, the X-6 has only been used once since I got it, so would be nice to blow the dust off of it, plus there is someone who would like it, if,if some of you top 2wd boys didn't score so many points in the Club Champs
Oh, a big thanks to SteveT for letting me charge from his 12v, not sure what happened to mine, but it stopped giving out the volts, not very old either

Ah! Would that person's initials aptly fit around the letters OTC?

SPRUNG!
Well spotted Jim - Brilliant! That's funny!
Like I said earlier to the JM - it's a long shot, there are a few 4WD'ers in the way and even if it were possible to pay them off, there's BenC and MattB. Like I said a long shot and I hope i'm better as a sniper than a mechanic!

I had no idea just how hard it is to drive a R/C car till i tryed it without sleep,
ITs a mission!
I hate night shifts, i've also got to miss the next round cos i'm at Reading!
So i think two champions my have been decided yeasterday!
It was good to see the Fairweathers again, plus some more new faces.
Sorry Jim for going early but i could bearly stay awake, or be philisopical about what a bad day i was having!!
Also well done the Steves, they were both laying it down for the so called top boys to deal with, niceone!!
Well done to JohnM, if you can do it again next year you'll be the first to do the hat trick! Bring on the X6 i think we need some more 2wd's to shack things up!

A thoroughly enjoyable meeting, made even better by out qualifying the Botch!
I swapped to the BJ4 after Peter destroyed the diff in one of the Durga's and never looked back... the BJ was flying and Botch was finally where he deserved to be... in my dust! It was also great to see Alex's "bag of nails" Predator destroy the orange crunchie wrapped S4 of the Botch! Great work Alex... more of the same please!
As per usual, I didn't get to do much spectating, trying to keep two cars running.
I now have a mountain to climb to try and catch that Steve T... who managed to out qualify me yet again.... but be warned... the BJ4 is BACK and ready to blast that ugly red car into submission!!
