We (mostly!) had a great time at the MK GP yesterday.

It was a difficult track with big jumps, a cross over, high grip carpet & no grip polished floor sections.

Plenty of breakages, DNFs & amazing crashes (including Al taking out a marshall!).

LBC on tour results were as follows:

George - 1st C final (our champ by along way)
Steve B - 2nd D final
Phil J - 3rd D final
Ben C - 4th D final
Steve T - DNF D final
Zipper - 2nd E final
Al - 3rd E final
Ben H - 2nd F final
Steve C  - DNF F final

We did a lot better than at the Petit last year in general. A good experience & watching the A finals was great. We had the european champion, british champion & loads of other team drivers.

Ben

P.S - Steve B, I have a (replacement) bar of Caramel for you, your prize for your 2nd place in the final!

I have to agree with Ben.  I really enjoyed the day, it was the final that made it all worth while. Had a good race for 1st place and with a comfortable lead threw it away like an old dish cloth.

I saw some of the best driving I have ever seen, this doesn't just include those A-Final guys either.  Steve T was excellent in parts where his car didn't fall to peices. Zippers best driving all season and he too should have won his final too.  Steve B, who was in heat "carnage" but managed to get some good times in and won his final, only to be robbed of glory by a stewards enquiry. (Looking forward to seeing Steve C's video evidence. Wink ) Steve was then robbed again with BenC munching his chocolate bar on the way home because it was "melting" Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

In fact all things considered, with a racing format we are not used too and being outdoor drivers I think we did pretty well. At one point it looked like it was going to be an LBC 1, 2, 3 in the D.

Finally, a big tip of that hat to George who didn't just win, he trounced his final and as "Honoury LBC" member brought home some silverware!  Wink  Cool

Was good to see y'all. Had a good time and as you say, we were better this time. Sublime driving from the top guys, just amazing precision - a different level altogether.

Roll on Petit '09!

Cool Al

Unlucky there Zipmeister! Hopefully he's booked into Petit so you can hand him his ass next time around!

I've just had a RC nerd thought  Idea - I should have used my one way so I could encourage the rear of my car to slide a bit more under braking on the polished floor. Sorry - that just popped into my head.

Mr Al - I have to disagree there with the 1 way. I had a one way at LBCWGP and MK last year.  On polished floor it's a disaster.  A tap on the brakes and it's a violent handbrake turn. I had that set up not through choice, just didn't have the alternatives and it was very very difficult to handle.

I heard from a good source, fixed front is the way forward on that surface. Would be interesting to see the A-Finalists set up sheets.

Maybe a touch of scandy flick on the corner entry to get the drift required?

I was gutted by my final. After getting into the D final in the last round of qualifying I went from 9th to 3rd in less than 2 laps whe the car landed slightly on its left corner and broke a part I had hoped would last for the final.
Still, LBC and guest did excellent as a whole with George taking the "C" final win with  a great drive

Had a really good day and the guys drove very well!. It was unlucky for Ben having to use someone Else's tranny and building the shocks 2 mins before the start couldn't of helped much!!!!

Was fairly pleased with my driving getting a 11 laper was fantastic but then to follow and do a 9 in the final was not so good!!

it's no excuse i know, but i just found my servo bolts only just hanging on by a thread might have explained the why the front didn't feel too nice Shocked  Shocked  Shocked  Very Happy  Very Happy

Phil
