It also clashes with an LBC date, so no tour by the LBC crew.  Shame though as it looks interesting!

Hey? LBC Date?  What LBC event is on the 31st Jan?

I would love to do this.  Working out the lap time decrease required to perform a full tyre and shock change!  Jamming in the biggest longest running LiPo's the world has ever seen, having spare Electrics ready to swap out in the space of seconds to prevent over heating.  Sounds like some well prepared use of the brains could counter the terrible driving.

Also the one car.  Can only be one of two cars - I would imagine. Needs to be one that the most parts are readily available trackside.  BJ4 - Will have spares from B44, B4 and ACS4 to use. Houses 4400 Saddles too.

Prepared motor mounts complete with motor and electrics stuck to it. Could do an entire electric and slipper clutch swap out in 40seconds!

I wanna go!

Strategy would be really important for a 24 hr event. We used to do some team endurance events wayyy back in the day which were great fun. Ooo - I want to go and take part now  Cool

That does sound great Very Happy

I agree BJ4 or B44 would be way to go - best bet would be to buy a nearly new one between us. 'Driver of the Team' a democratically chosen master of enduro racing, pit stops, coffee making and staying awake gets to keep it at the end!

2wd would be more reliable & efficient but I doubt the time saved in maintenance & battery pit stops would equate to the time lost on the track?

This would be a biggy, organisation & money wise - are ten of us brave or foolish enough?!

If not there's always 'The Players'. Three day event at Worksop at the end of March. Lap racing for the top 32 drivers (rules us out then Crying or Very sad )...

Here's my plan: -

I will supply the chassis. Excludes Oil, wheels and Tyres. - FOC.
I will supply a Front AC Shock tower. (Valued at £20max) It will replace the BJ4 standard front end. Added to spares pot - It's bullet proof so if it's not snapped, I don't care, no money out the pot Wink

3 x Pots. - 1 x Electric; 1 x Spares. 1 x Tyres/Inserts/Wheels

Spares Pot. (To be decided/ agreed)

6 x Front wishbones - 501x - Bullet proof - These will last a lot longer than the associated and take much more abuse.
6 x Rear Wishbones - Standard BJ4/B4 etc
6 x Packs of steering knuckles.
1 x Pack of Tonys screws for BJ4
2 x Gear box's
3 x Spare Bevel Gear sets. (Only 1 sitting as back up pre-made)
2 x Spur Gears
1 x (Take 1 spur gear from above) Fully made slipper clutch, with ball cups.
4 x Hub carriers.
1 x Set of bearings.
1 x Spare Hinge pins

Take Total value of spares, divide by team. Choice to either put cash into pot or spares to equivalent value. What's left over, get's returned to the evenly split retained value, or return spares contributed to same value.

Electrics Pot

4 x Motor mounts with electrics pre-installed and ready for: -
2 assigned to pre-programmed stick controller; 2 assigned to pre-programmed wheel controller.  This will ensure that stick and wheels can drive and they have time for motor cooling as and when required.

All electrics are valued.  Let's say £100 per used ESC and Motor combo (To be agreed)

Any cooked, burnt out, comes out of the pot. But all returned at the end of the meeting in working order along with £20 (To be agreed) as well as their ESC motor combo.  Brushless only and LiPo cut off a must Wink  (I will look to see if my transmitter can receive Car Battery power details)

Work out pairs and bring 1 x Set of 4400mah Trakpower Cells with you. If odd number - random draw for person not responsible for cells. random.org  Wink

Tyres, Inserts and Wheels.  Pot

With the above, I think we can get away with not having as many spare tyres due to the time saving made above. With the AC front tower, the 501x wishbones we will save a lot on breakages.

1 x POT of acetone - £10.00 - Should keep the cost of wheels down to about £30

Tyres and inserts. - Firm inserts - last longer  -  5 packs - £10.00

Tyres - This is the debatable bit - But with the all of the above we could end up saving so much time - we can afford to run them longer losing lap time, gained by better preperation with the above.

10 person team. Up front cost per person = £10 entry, £2 motor contribution, 40minute run time on tyres £25.20 Each, £1.00 inserts, Wheels £4. Spares £20.00; £1 acetone

£63.20 ish Per person. Or call it £70 for safe.   All in and with a bit of luck, should get some change too. Wink

With only one vehicle per 4 people, less fuel, and only carrying what we need, plenty of room for soft stuff, sleeping bags etc to grab those well needed 40 winks.

I think it's possible. I think the car can be made strong enough.  For rare parts not in the pot that don't tend to break, there will be 3 or four cars sitting trackside to butcher - just in case. With a pre-agreed "new price for not in spare parts pot replacement" An additional £10 per person to go into emergency funds pot. That way everything can be resolved at the track and avoids confusion and stops anyone being out of pocket. Wink

Mini teams; will have a rotation set, getting everyone out marshalling, pit side and driving fairly.  Each mini team has a Main guy, who will make the decisions on whether to swap wheels during a maintenance stop etc.  They will be looking at tracktimes and assessing everything.  After the 1st hour when the system breaks down and it all goes mental, we can leave 1 person doing everything and the rest go down the pub!. Laughing

Each mini team will manage for 2 Hours (For aguments sake 9 driver, 3 teams of 3).  That will be each driving for approx 15 minutes.
Process -  A1 - Drives, A2 - Marshalls and is pit man. A3 - Rests.  After first run, pit for cell change.  After second run, A3 drives, A2 goes to marshall and as soon as car is back on the track for A3, A2 rests and the cycle continues. With 2 hours circulations, that will give a mini team of 3 up to 4 hours sleep at any one time.

2 Hours on. 4 Hours off. Maybe dull at the beginning for a few, BUT, will pay dividends in the 2am to 2pm slots.

And finally, as BenC suggested a reward for the best.  With a little friendly mini competition between the 3 mini teams, we will have something to strive for even if we are miles behind the rest.  Wink

And that is, without going even further into it, Shocked  my plan Very Happy

Ben, how is that you can put that much time and thought into a possible meeting, but you can't have you're car ready to go when you get to the track on a Sunday, and have to build it there? Wink  Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

we do an 4 hour endurance race at ipswich with the touring cars. They are great fun with the strategy. 24 hours would be mental. 4 hours is really hard work. How about hosting an endurance race at LBC or Coastal for something a bit different?

You have hit the nail on the head there my man.  Thinking about things, I can do. Doing things, I can't think about.   Laughing

Stuff like this comes to me really easy.  Also, If I am sitting at computer I can do this whilst doing other things.  Being in a garage working on a car, it's too painful, I end up piddling about too much.  On top of that, I have to set aside considerable amount of time to do it. It's not something I can do bit a time, I have to hit it all in one go. Rolling Eyes

However, Petit, I am determined to have my cars ready. Shocked

Just thought, anyone know someone who's got a mini bus because as I'm a bus driver It might even work out even cheaper if we all went down together.
