Hi guys,
A few of you have said to me that you have noticed the level of pace at Lawford has really increased over the last 2 or 3 seasons, it got me thinking of trying to find a way of helping the pace increase further in the 2009 season. Trying to make Lawford the club to race at if you want to have a competive days club racing in the EoE. To help make it a breeding ground for quick drivers that is renowned and respected across the region and it wouldn't be impossible to say the country... given time.

Speaking to a few of you over the last year or so it seems to me that quite a lot of people at the club would like to know a little more about the technical aspects of our toys, what makes them tick, and what adjustments have what effect on the cars behaviour.

I know when I was a youngster trying to make my way up I was very lucky to have a dad who really knew his stuff to learn from, argue with and to pitch my ideas against, and I still do even now. Next to my good and evil of ideas he is my sensible voice of reason to kick my imagination back into reality. Generally together, we find the right way forward.

Anyhoo, I have done a little trawling on the interweb and have come across a few set-up guides and help articles. They are 99% accurate in what they say, and, on occasion they don't always tell the whole story, but for those that do want to develop their lap-times these guides are an extremely good source of information and would certainly get you off on the right foot.

The guides are generally based around touring cars, but the principles remain largely the same.

Learning about your toy will improve your lap times, if you can understand all the aspects of the set-up adjustments available to you, you will be able to understand why the car is not behaving quite as you want it to and then adjust it to make it do so.

This is lap-time found through understanding, and that doesn't cost a penny!
