Brilliant day!
Felt on the occasion it was nearing a blind panic, but all added to the day.
I think I witnessed some of the best driving at LBC as a whole since I joined. Ups, downs, some excellent close racing which made it very exciting and great fun to both watch and be part of.
Congratulations to all the trophy winners and in particular Rich S - Second after a year out!!! Envy or jealousy? It must be jealousy, I remember looking up and asking “why not me” in a typically childish and petulant manner
Looking forward to next week all ready.
Oh - Andrew (FLT winner) - your trophie is on it's way, remember, you are both very welcome to come along next week, and use the ZX5 4WD car. Register, book in and that's it. You'll need a couple of pound for the entry on the day.

Good effort yesterday everyone. The sun came out, and we had a fair audience for the whole event who really seemed to be enjoying the racing from the comments I overheard.
Off the track I enjoyed myself - nice to see you all again. On the track I didn't enjoy myself one bit. Hey ho, might be time to put the old Pred up on my shelf - although I would never be so ignorant to blame all my faults on the car
See you all later in the year sometime. |

A great day it was! The track was lovely.... no horrible rabbit holes to catch us out! The weather held out, the turnout was good, we had spectators and there were trophies up for grabs!
I loved the Durga but was disappointed to have had motor trouble, meaning I couldn't run in the Semi-final. That will teach me for running a brushed motor!
Lot's of close racing as usual and all the usual entertaining events througout the day including;
* Ben H skidding his car to a holt, for it to jump over the piping and into a child!
* Al, thinking a car had gone out of control and off the track ran over and picked it up and ran towards the track with the car in his hand. Little did Al realise is that the car he had in his hands was not in the race, it was Kaine and his friends playing with a car while a race was on! Their faces were a picture as Al ran off with their car!
* Ben H and his smoking cells!
* Swifty, with a year out managing to come along and take 2nd place!
How about getting us at the Tendring Hundred Show this year? http://www.tendringshow.demon.co.uk/ Loads of people visit it, so another good PR exercise for the club? It would also give the kids something exciting to watch after looking at boring cattle all day! _________________ Team Associated B44 |

Oh yeah - how did I forget the 'run away car' incident?! Ha Ha - I swear one of the kids had a tear in his eye, I felt a right doughnut.

Must have been the best days racing so far this year
Track was great, really got to let the Yokomo off its leash and see how fast it really can be
Some really good driving and racing was on show as well, the race between Ben H, Juddy and Ben C was so good, I was forgeting to marshall!
Great to see Rich Swift come back and show his class, just like last year to see our cars on the grid next to each other, maybe he can be tempted into a return. _________________ Light a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day, but light a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. |

It was a great meeting, really good crowd and if we get one new member all the hard work would be worth it!
I still can't beleave my wheel came off in the semi, i'm sure i checked em!
Oh well thats one more thing i;ve learnt to check b4 a race!
That race with the 2 Bens was class, i was miles behind after a bad start. then to roll it just as Ben H did the same thing was bonkers!
Well done to John, and Matt who was looking super quick again! |

I have to say that the annual Manningtree School Meet is always a bit of a headache- before, during and after! An incredible amount of work goes into the preparation of the track- dismantling it all at Bradfield, transporting it to the school, laying it, constructing a new rostrum and so on. The event itself usually runs pretty smoothly, but there are many distractions (trying to answer questions from onlookers, fixing other peoples cars and trying to get the marshalls out!). On that last point, I must apologise if I got a bit heavy with some of you, but it really would be helpful if you could read your racecharts and try to be in the right place at the right time, whether marshalling or racing- Andy!
Anyway, that's the moaning over! It was a great day, the weather was kind to us, particularly in the afternoon, and we attracted a good and appreciative crowd. The Fastest Lap Competition went well, although I think Ben H. turned a bit pale once or twice! Congratulations to Andrew Rotchell, the winner, and we look forward to seeing him and his mate Josh at our track very soon.
The racing was great, with some very close-run finishes, and lots of thrills and spills for the onlookers. Very well done to all the trophy winners- especially John and Matt, who were on top form.
Nice to have Rich S. racing with us again- let's hope to see you more often Rich! I'm sure the incident between us in the Final was a mere lapse of memory, and next time you will stop and wait for me!
All in all it was a brilliant display of our club racing at its best, and I will be very surprised if we don't recruit a few more members as a result.
Commiserations to Juddy, Lee and Ben B., who were dashed unlucky in their semis, and to Asa, racing for the first time in nearly two years and picked up the wrong radio for one of his heats!
Very, very special thanks to Ben B. and his mate Shaun for their tireless work loading and unloading the track, and to Ben (again) for organising the low-loader and the scaffolding for the rostrum.
Thanks also to Ben H. for the Fastest Lap competition and all it entailed- you did a great job! I hope your nerves are better now.....and for the programmes, which disappeared like ice in the desert!
And a big thank you to Juddy for all his hard work dismantling and setting the track up on Saturday and fetching more piping (twice) from Bradfield because I underestimated how much we would need!
Colesie, too, was a great help on Saturday- much appreciated, Gordon!
Thanks, too, to Sal for her indefatigable lap-counting (only one or two glitches, which were hardly surprising given the fact that she, too, was trying to field questions from onlookers!).
Well done all of you- you did us proud! But I must say, if anyone is having thoughts about the Tendring Hundred Show or any other event, I shall have to take a back seat and confine myself to simply (!) organising the races- I am getting too old for the hard work involved in all the rest of it. I will, of course, happily support and advise anyone crazy enough to undertake it themselves! _________________ According to James Douglas Morrison 'the West is the best', but I'm stickin' with the 'East'! |

Using some detective skills I have obtained the following information.
Has a light blue mini - his pride and joy - with upgraded dash board to carbon fibre and recently added exhaust system.
License Plate: N874 EOY and he calls this pride and joy - Neddy
Neddy was swiftly done up just days before the Manningtree Car Show, so he could meet other Mini Drivers at the car park of PC World before heading down together - Probably in convoy before parking up to admire the rest of the shows vehicles. After a while, they were bored, ate some bar b q food, then headed down to see some extreme RC Off Road action displayed by the awesome team from LBC.
He has a laptop with a wired broadband connection that he uses to buy mini parts and music amongst other things.
He is about 5'10" with dark hair and brown eyes. Likes listening to music, has a thing for Tigger and when bored of lego and it's too dark to work on the car, he plays boggle, but only occasionally.
Finally he has two pet rodents called Diamond and Pearl and his name is Matthew and about 28 years of age.
That's it for now.
